Barge Unloading at The Port of Portland Javeler Construction Co., Inc. provided the equipment (Toyo Pump) and technical support on this Port of Portland barge unloading project. A six yard cable arm bucket is used to dredge material that has built up along side the dock at one of their terminals and is deposited into a 1,500 cubic yard capacity barge with seven cells. The10" pumping system is used to unload the thick mud at a rate of 280 cubic yards per hour, 600' to a disposal pond. The system is quiet and there is no spillage back into the river. Barge Unloading Barge Loading/Unloading Project - Upland Disposal A Toyo hydraulic driven 10 inch submersible agitator pump is being used to dredge a navigational channel 40' wide by 1200' long, to minus 8 feet. The Toyo submersible is hung from a 40 ton crane. Hydraulic power unit (from a vibratory hammer) is located on the back of the crane. Material is silts/sand/oyster shells. Loading thick slurry into a 200' x 40' barge located 1200 feet away. Weirs inside the barge assist in dewatering. Barge is transported 5 miles to an upland disposal site, where the same set up is used for unloading. Final disposal site is 1,000 feet away. Upland Disposal Dredging Project - Baltimore Area Thirty thousand yards of sand and silt were dredged with a clam shell and placed into barges. The barges were taken to the upland disposal site. The dredge spoils were then transferred through bridge grating into a hopper barge containing Javeler's 10 inch 150 horsepower submersible agitator dredge pump. The dredge pump transferred over 250 cubic yards per hour of material through an in line booster pump, and through 2,200 feet of 10" HDPE pipe to the disposal site. Barge Unloading in South Texas |
